Founded in 1969, Langley Community Music School is a non-profit society devoted to providing quality music education to students of all ages, from babies to seniors, beginners to emerging professionals.  It is governed by a Board of Directors, under the distinguished patronage of Jon Kimura Parker, O.C.

The school’s success is epitomized by the alumni who have achieved international acclaim as artists and teachers, including many more who are studying at top universities throughout the world. They include award winning jazz musicians Brad Turner and Renee Rosnes, world-renowned ukulele virtuoso James Hill, and violinist Darryl Strain.

The faculty is a distinguished group of artists who are dedicated to encouraging both excellence and a love of music.  Students receive private instruction, and participate in enrichment classes, ensembles, recitals, master classes and workshops, which make up the wide range of programs at LCMS.  The school presents two professional concert series each year for the enjoyment of the community:  Concerts Café Classico and Rose Gellert Hall Concert Series.

LCMS is nationally recognized for its support and presentation of Canadian composers and their music.  In addition to numerous commissions of new works, each year the school presents Canadian Music Week with concerts involving students, faculty and guest artists.  It is also a centre for the Contemporary Showcase Festival.
