Summer 2011 - Early Childhood Learning

Playing with Music
Dates: July 11-15
Time: 9:00am-12:00pm

4 to 6 years & 7 to 9 years

Sing! Make masks! Explore folk traditions! Build simple musical instruments and crafts!
Play xylophones and percussion instruments! Creative movement & dramatic storytelling with music!
This summer camp offers activities for two age groups. Some of these will be for the whole group and some activities will be for smaller groups in age appropriate sessions, freely mixing old favourites with exciting new material.
 
The instructors use their background as performers and Orff, Kodaly, and Children’s Art specialists to make this a unique experience that is becoming a Langley Music School Summer tradition. Bring a snack and dress for movement and art activities.
 
Parents and guests are invited for a performance on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:15am.

Faculty Biographies

 
Holly Duff (B.Mus.) teaches piano, as well as pre-school Orff music and movement classes in both Langley and Vancouver. She is a founding director and pianist with West Coast Chamber Music since 1993, and performs children's shows combining storytelling and music.
 
Ross Curran (B.Mus.) is a performer, children's entertainer, private music teacher and pre-school specialist. Combined with several years spent as a children's art instructor he brings a wide variety of experience to his teaching.

 

Music for Babies and Toddlers

Music for Babies and Toddlers is a wonderful opportunity to introduce music to young children in a fun and nurturing environment. Classes encourage musical contact between a caregiver and child, who together develop a musical repertoire to nurture at home. With the repetition of material and careful development of skills, all participants will have fun and gain confidence.
 

Note: Class is limited to 12. 

Pre-Twinkle Introductory Violin
Dates:
July 18-21
Time:
11:15am-12:00pm

3 years to 5 years

Cost:
$50 

This introduction to a Suzuki violin preparatory class setting is designed for pre-schoolers. The class will emphasize good posture, bow hold, and rhythm clapping through various games. No experience necessary, materials provided. No instruments required
.  Each participant is required to attend classes with a parent or caregiver.

Note: Class is limited to 8.
