material and procedures vary according to the individual teacher’s
preference but usually includes technical exercises, studies and compositions
by classical composers. We offer a complete
program of instruction for students wanting to take practical examinations
through the Royal Conservatory of Music, Victoria Conservatory
and Conservatory Canada.
To enhance the private
lesson, a wide-range of enrichment
classes are offered. Students also have the opportunity to perform
in recitals at the school and throughout the community. Master classes
with nationally renowned professional artists are planned throughout the
year.
STRINGS
PROGRAM
We offer students an extensive program with lessons
available in violin, viola, cello and double bass. To create a more meaningful
learning experience, students have access to the following enrichment
classes in addition to their private lessons at no
extra cost. Students should discuss participation in these classes with
their teacher.
Students
will also have the opportunity to work with an accompanist and perform
in recitals in Rose Gellert Hall during the
year.
PIANO
PROGRAM
LCMS offers a complete
program of instruction, including theory, for students wanting to
prepare for Royal Conservatory, Western Board, Victoria Conservatory and
other examinations (Please refer to the Theory section for more
information). Students have many opportunities to perform recitals at
the school and throughout the community. The following classes are
offered to piano students to compliment their private lessons.

Music
- Master

- Discounted tickets for all LCMS
concerts
PIANO ENSEMBLE PROGRAM
This program provides an opportunity for LCMS piano students to become
involved in piano ensemble playing: duets (one piano, four hands), duos (two
pianos, four hands), trios (one piano, six hands), and quartets (two pianos,
eight hands). Ensembles will be formed in September and will be coached by
various LCMS faculty on a bi-weekly basis. The ensembles will perform in a
year end concert.
PIANO PEDAGOGY PROGRAM
The Piano Pedagogy Program is designed to help students prepare for the
Royal Conservatory of Music ARCT Teacher's diploma. There are three levels
leading to completion of the ARCT Teacher's: Elementary Pedagogy
certificate, Intermediate level certificate and Advanced Pedagogy diploma.
This is a great course for students who wish to teach piano. Some prior
experience of teaching is helpful but not required to take the course.
