Langley Community Music School is a centre for excellence in music education. With the financial support of three levels of government and charitable donations it offers students of all ages, from beginners to the emerging professional, the opportunity to study with highly qualified faculty and to develop a life-long appreciation of music.

The School was established to provide:
  • A recognized school for music instruction which offers a consistently high standard of music teaching.
  • Students with an atmosphere conducive to the development of musical awareness through interaction with their teachers and peers.
  • Musicians and teachers with a centre where they are able to work together rather than in isolation so that they may benefit from an interchange of ideas, experience and musical ability.

The School is a vibrant group of students, parents, faculty, volunteers and members who are committed to building a unique creative environment for the whole community.

Comprehensive Program of Instruction
Since its inception, the school’s emphasis has been to offer comprehensive and innovative programming for students of all ages, from babies through to seniors at beginner through pre-professional levels. Private instruction, enrichment classes, ensembles, recitals, master classes, workshops, and concerts make up the wide range of programs at LCMS. Our students take private lessons and classes to meet requirements for post-secondary entrance, to prepare for exams and festivals, to develop career skills or for personal enjoyment. Our faculty is a distinguished group of artists who are dedicated to encouraging both excellence and a love of music.

Professional Concert Series for the Community
To complement its educational and enrichment programs, the School presents two professional concert series. Artistic Director Marcel Bergmann programs many of Canada's outstanding professional artists in a wide range of recitals. Concerts Café Classico is a Friday morning music education series with expert commentary from the artists on the works they play at 10:00am, coffee social at 10:30am, and followed by a one hour performance at 11:00am. World renowned musicians take the stage at 7:30pm for a full recital for the Rose Gellert Hall Concert Series.

All performances take place at Rose Gellert Hall located at LCMS. More details are available within the Concerts and Events section.

Canadian Music
The Langley Community Music School is recognized nationally for its support and presentation of Canadian composers and their music. In addition to the numerous commissions of new works, each year the School presents Canadian Music Week with concerts involving students, faculty and guest artists. It is also a centre for the Contemporary Showcase Festival.

Support
The Langley Community Music School’s reputation for music excellence has garnered the dedicated support of government agencies, businesses, community organizations and individuals.
